Earlier on June 7, the IRCC Minister, Hon. Sean Fraser has announced some noteworthy changes to Canada's super visa program.
Canada has finally implemented those key amendments to its Parents and Grandparents Super Visa program w.e.f. July 4, 2022.
As per the updates, Parents and grandparents of Canadian permanent residents and citizens can now stay in Canada for a longer duration under the PGP Super Visa.
· increased the length of stay in Canada to 5 years per entry for super visa holders
· people with Canadian super visa can now request an extension of stay by up to 2 years while in Canada.
· IRCC Minister is now allowed to designate international medical insurance organizations to offer medical coverage to all PGP super visa applicants in the near future.

With these amendments, parents and grandparents can now stay in Canada for seven consecutive years without renewing their super visa.
A Canadian super visa is a multiple entry visitor visa specifically designed for the parents and grandparents of Canadian permanent residents and citizens. With a super visa, an individual can stay in Canada for up to five years at a time without renewing their status.
